1. INTRODUCTION: Mickelson Men’s Night is a 10-11 person team men’s golf league.

    1. The NUMBER ONE RULE is PLAY FAST! Be Ready to Hit! Keep it moving. The Rules Committee reserves any right to assess penalties, make foursomes skip holes, or remove slow players from the course for the rest of that day’s league play. The expected pace of play is 4 hours and 10 minutes.
    2. The League will play on Wednesdays, beginning May 15, 2024, at Mickelson National Golf Club. This start time will change based on the sunset each night, although some nights we are forced to do a shotgun start (advance notice will be issued if this occurs).
  2. League Officers:
League Coordinator – Colton Robb ([email protected])
    1. (a) The League Coordinator’s duties will include:
      • Setting and distributing a schedule for League play.
      • Recording and distributing accurate results of league play.
      • Maintaining and updating League handicaps, standings, rules, and records.
  3. DISPUTES / DECISIONS.
    1. The Rules Committee will be made up of all golf professionals who are employed at Mickelson National Golf Club.
    2. The Rules Committee can make league and local rules pertaining to league play at any time, including but not limited to matters that affect points, standings, rule interpretation, etc. All league disputes, violations, and penalties are subject to review by the Rules Committee.
    3. The committee may consult any outside party, including but not limited to the parties involved and any witnesses.
    4. The League Coordinators reserve the right to remove any participants from the league for the duration of the season without refunding any men’s night fees regarding any incidents, including but not limited to misconduct or rules violations.
    5. Decisions made by the Rules Committee and League Coordinators are final.
  4. LEAGUE SETUP
    1. League Competition - 18 weeks of Regular Season play (weather pending).
    2. League Scoring System: There are 10 teams comprised of 10-11 players that will play against the field each week.
    3. Singles Play: Starting May 15, 2024, this is a season-long competition. Points are awarded based on your finishing position each week. Each week you will play your own ball and record the score. This gross score will be used to place you on the leaderboard, which will be tracked for 18 weeks (weather pending). This format will run like the FedEx Cup. Players will be placed into one of four flights based on handicap, and league officials have the right to adjust flights from May 15 to June 5, 2024, to promote better competition.
    4. Team Format: Starting June 12, 2024, and running to the end of the season, the team-based league format will begin. Please note that both the singles and team-based formats will run at the same time. Thus, your weekly score will be counted for both your single score and team score. Each week you will play your own ball, and your final individual scores will be used to determine your overall team score. The best 2 low gross and the next best 3 low net scores from each week will contribute to your team score each week, and you will be designated points based on how your team does against the field of teams. The scores that do not get used are dropped and do not count towards your team score for the week. If a team does not have five valid scores for the week, the rules committee will discuss and rule on the outcome.
  5. LEAGUE PLAY: “The Rules”
    1. All play shall be played from your appointed tees based on your handicap.

      18-Hole Handicap Index:
      Flight 1 = Two Tees
      Flight 2 = Three Tees
      Flight 3 = Four Tees

    2. All play will be played under Summer Rules, which means - Play it as it Lies. League officials will determine if other rules apply.
    3. Gimmes permitted inside standard 24” length from the hole. EXCEPTION: Must putt out for Birdie or Better.
    4. Designated DROP AREAS will be used on the par 3 holes only. You can PLACE the ball within the Drop Circle or outside the drop circle on a line to the previous shot back as far as you wish, no closer to the hole.
    5. The MAXIMUM SCORE on any hole is 3 over par for the duration of the regular season play ONLY. A player MUST pick up on any hole and take a 3 over par score (please note you are responsible for recording your score as 3 over par on your scorecard. If you enter a score above that - that is how your score will be posted).
    6. LOST BALL WITHIN AREA OF GOLF COURSE (Played as a red stake for the pace of play purposes):
      • Option 1: Place the ball 2 club lengths from where the ball lies or the point of entry, no closer to the hole. (ADD 1 SHOT)
      • Option 2: Keep the point of entry between yourself and the Flag and place the ball on this line, no closer to the hole, back as far as you want. (ADD 1 SHOT)
      • Option 3: Keep yourself between the point of entry and Your Last Shot and place the ball on this line, no closer to the hole, back as far as you want. (ADD 1 SHOT)
    7. Definitions:
      • Point of Entry: The last point where the ball crossed playable golf course – before becoming unplayable, whether going out of bounds, lost, or in a hazard or wooded area. If the shot never crosses a playable area of the golf course, then use option 1. If the player and the opponents disagree substantially where to spot the point of entry, it can be a compromised spot agreed to by both sides. Make a decision and GO!
      • Drop: In all “drop situations” where a penalty stroke is being added, you may place the ball no closer to the hole and at least two clubs lengths from a green. Never on a green.
      • Unplayable Lie: A player at any time can declare his ball unplayable and use the 3-options rule.
    8. If there are any RULES DISPUTES during a round, a ball can be played, a second ball should be played, and the hole completed using both balls. The rules committee will make a decision on which score is applicable. Committee decisions are final.
    9. Scorecard Submissions: Your tee time of golfers for each league night is responsible for submitting your scorecard into the pro shop after your assigned 9 holes. Each scorecard must mark each golfer's first initial, last name, tees played, and the total score for each participant. Scorecard writing must be legible for pro shop staff. If you fail to complete any of the above, your score may not be counted, and you will be ineligible for prizing.
  6. RAINOUTS / LIGHTNING. If lightning is present, you are to immediately take the standard precautions prescribed for this condition. Rainouts will be determined by the club pro and/or the rules committee. Take cover if returning to the clubhouse is deemed unsafe. Mickelson National Golf Club does have a weather warning system or alarm. League officials will determine if a rain out occurs, if this happens, scores for the week will be canceled, and prizes will be doubled up for the next week.
  7. GUEST. Guests will be permitted to play each week; guests are required to pay $25 two days in advance (CASH/E-Transfer to [email protected]). Guests are also required to pay regular green fees to the golf club. Guests must have a valid handicap and are only eligible for the weekly prizes. League officials have the right to adjust guest handicaps for weekly play. Each guest is only allowed to play in Men's night 3 times for the 2024 year.
  8. PRIZING. There will be prizes awarded for each men’s night for a variety of accomplishments. Every week at approximately 9 pm inside the main clubhouse, all weekly prizes such as deuce pot, snips, proxies, and weekly draw prizes will be issued. *You must be present to win Draw Prizes; all other prizes will be added to your credit book. **If you are finishing playing your round, you are considered present for the purposes of draw prizes.
  9. Prize Allotments: Please note that each week, the total value of the prize allotment will be the same.
    1. DEUCE POTS.

If you score a 2 on any hole on men’s night - you will split this pot with any other participant who scored a 2. The pot will be paid out in the form of a credit book. IMPORTANT: You must hole out a 2; no gimmes permitted, see section 5.3.

    2. SNIPS.

There will be both Gross and Net Snips for 18 holes. Snips will be awarded for the best score on the hole. If you are the only participant to score the lowest on the hole from the whole field, you will be awarded a snip; however, if that low score is shared with others, no snip is awarded. If no snips are awarded for Gross or Net, they will be carried over to the next week.

    3. PROXIES.

There will be one Proxy prize on each Par 3, four total prizes each week.

  10. CANCELLATION: Participants are responsible for canceling their tee times within 24 hours of their booked tee time. Failure to do so may result in a non-refundable no-show fee. There is an exception to this rule that is dependent on inclement weather in which case you will not be charged. However, you must still notify the pro shop you will not be attending that evening if you have booked a tee time.
