Men's Night Handicap
What is a Men's Night Handicap?
Men's Night Handicap refers to the handicap system utilized exclusively for Mickelson Men's Night at Mickelson National Golf Club during the 2024 season. It is distinct from any other handicap used for golfing events at the club throughout the year.
Men's Night Handicap Index
At the onset, all golfers will begin with an initial 18-hole "artificial" handicap sourced from Golf Canada on April 15, 2024. Subsequently, scores from each Men's Night will be incorporated to formulate the Men's Night Handicap. Notably, only scores from Men's Night events contribute to this specific handicap, resulting in separate handicap values between Golf Canada and Mickelson Men's Night.
The Mickelson Men's Night handicap is determined by considering the player's best four scores from the last seven rounds played. Initially, the "artificial" handicap will generate the Men's Night handicap index until the player completes seven rounds, establishing an authentic Men's Night handicap index.
This system aims to foster a competitive environment by ensuring fairness across the field.
League Handicap Calculation
The calculation for determining the league handicap involves the following steps:
- Calculate the differential for each round: (Gross Score - Course Rating) × (113 / Slope)
- Add the four lowest differentials together and then divide by four.
Round Handicap
For each round played, a golfer's Round Handicap is computed using their Men's Night handicap index and the slope and rating of the tees they play from. This calculation mirrors the formula employed by Golf Canada and the USGA.
Round Handicap Calculation: Men's Night Handicap Index × Tee Slope/113 + (Rating of Tee Used - Par of Course) = Round Handicap (Rounded to a Whole Number)
